The
LSE Archives are a major resource for the study of British political,
economic and social history and was granted Designated Status by the
Museums Libraries and Archives Council in October 2005. Resources for
the study of labour history include the minutes of the Labour
Representation Committee, and the papers of the Independent Labour Party
and the Fabian Society. The Archives also hold the papers of prominent
politicians and activists including Sidney and Beatrice Webb, Hugh
Dalton, Tony Crosland and Peter Shore along with an extensive collection
of election addresses. Users can search and browse the Archives

from Emmeline Pankhurst to Keir Hardie, 12 January 1906 Emmeline Pankhurst urged Keir Hardie to return to Merthyr Tydfil ‘where no doubt you will win but we must fight as for life’. She feared that Hardie’s absence from the constituency would cost him the seat and was keen to see supporters of women’s suffrage in Parliament.
